A fictional ZDF-style documentary imagines a different ending to 1989: a hardline takeover in Moscow, protests in East Germany and a rapid slide into confrontation between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Real archive footage is mixed with newly shot interviews with invented generals, soldiers and officials.
